David Sayre
David
Sayre was born on September 9, 1977 in Miami, Florida. He graduated from
Southwest Miami High School before attending Miami-Dade College for two
years. He left school to pursue a career in film. In 1996, David began
writing screenplays and has since written or co-written over a dozen
scripts. In 2000, he made his first attempts at directing, ultimately
leading to his directorial debut with the 2003 short film The Poker
Game. Sayre wrote, produced and directed two more short films over
the next three years, Retribution (2004) and Mystery Showcase
(2006). Through years of self-motivated, individual research David has
acquired an extensive knowledge of film history, a subject he enjoys
writing about and discussing. Among his favorite films are Citizen
Kane, Lawrence of Arabia, Do the Right Thing and
Cradle Will Rock. His major influences as a filmmaker are Orson
Welles, John Cassavetes, Spike Lee and John Sayles. In addition to
writing for Pictures and Frames magazine, David continues to
write and direct, looking to make his feature film debut.
